Lae City Authority delivers community programs and major projects across Lae and Morobe Province — from infrastructure renewal to skills training, health services, education, energy, and tourism. Each program is led or co-delivered by LCA in partnership with national agencies, donors, and the private sector.

Major Projects

Lae Main Market Redevelopment

Restoring Lae's central market following the September 2024 fire. Temporary trading capacity is operational; permanent rebuild is in planning.

Yalu Solar Farm and Taraka Power Upgrade

K120 million investment delivering 20MW of additional power to Lae — eight new generators at Taraka (operational) and a new solar farm at Yalu (12-month build).

Bugandi Secondary School

Restoring Bugandi Secondary School facilities in partnership with national education agencies.

Urban Youth Employment Project (UYEP)

World Bank-supported skills and work-experience programme for unemployed Lae youth aged 16–35.

New Health Clinics for Lae

Expanding primary health-care access across Lae's wards.

Cycling in Lae

Promoting safer cycling and active transport across the city.

Tourism in Lae

The Lae City Tourism Bureau (LCTB) and PNGTPA partnership to grow tourism across Lae and Morobe Province.
