New Health Clinics for Lae

In 2024, two new state-of-the-art health clinics were officially opened in Lae — at East Taraka and at Ten Siti.

The opening

The opening ceremony was officiated by Dr Kipas Binga, Chief Executive Officer of the Morobe Provincial Health Authority (MoPHA), and attended by:

  • Dr Tom Lino, Health Minister
  • Hon Kobby Bobareo
  • David Wissink, MoPHA Chairman
  • Osborne Liko, Health Secretary
  • Dr Joanne Loudes, Acting Australian High Commissioner
  • Hon. John Rosso MP, Chairman of LCA, Member for Lae and Deputy Prime Minister

A state-of-the-art build

The clinics were constructed by contractor PDC and will be staffed by Lutheran Medical Personnel. The project was made possible by the continued support and funding of the Australian Government.

Caring for the facilities

At the opening, the Deputy Prime Minister and community representatives asked residents to pay respect to the facilities and the staff who serve in them.

The project was arranged through partnerships led by Hon John Rosso DPM. Lae City Authority thanks MoPHA's board and management, the Australian Government, the Lutheran Medical Personnel, and all delivery partners.
