The Lae City Authority (LCA) is the municipal services body for Lae, established under the Lae City Authority Act 2015 (No. 11 of 2015).
LCA is primarily responsible for providing municipal services in the Lae area. The Authority operates under memoranda of understanding with the Lae Urban Local-Level Government and Rural Local-Level Governments in Morobe Province.
The functions and powers of the Authority are defined by the Lae City Authority Act, and explicitly include pollution control.
The Authority is governed by a Board. The Chairman of LCA is Hon. John Rosso MP, Member for Lae and Deputy Prime Minister. The Chief Executive Officer is Robin Calistus. Oversight is exercised through the Morobe Provincial Government and the Provincial and Local-level Service Monitoring Authority.
