Bugandi Secondary School

Lae City Authority is funding an 8-in-1 classroom and students' ablution block at Bugandi Secondary School — part of a broader package of LCA support for the school.

New classroom and ablution block

LCA has commenced construction of an 8-in-1 classroom and a students' ablution block at Bugandi Secondary School. This project is wholly funded by the taxpayers of Lae City through the Lae City Authority, under the education sector.

A school in turnaround

There has been a great shift in the attitude of students and teachers at Bugandi Secondary School in the last 12 months, under the commendable leadership and guidance of Principal Mr Dennis Miall:

  • No more fighting amongst students and against other schools.
  • No more half uniforms.
  • No more classes disrupted by water and electricity outages from unpaid bills.

A complete change in what the school is known for on the media over the past years.

LCA's broader package of support for Bugandi

LCA is fully committed to ensuring quality infrastructure is on the ground to complement these changes. A quality education through better learning facilities — that is what our children deserve. In the last term, LCA has supported Bugandi with:

  • Fencing
  • Payment of some outstanding water and power bills
  • Stationery supplies
  • Funding support to assist with other operational needs
  • Classroom maintenance
  • A brand-new coaster bus
  • The new classroom and ablution block project

One school at a time

LCA will partner and support all schools in the city. But not all at the same time due to funding constraints. As in other key development areas such as roads, it will be one school at a time. I ask for your patience and understanding. We will get there.
