On 8 December 2025, the 112 emergency hotline was officially launched for Morobe Province by Assistant Commissioner of Police for Northern Command Peter Guinness and Hon. John Rosso MP, Chairman of LCA, Member for Lae and Deputy Prime Minister.
112 is the universal emergency number for Papua New Guinea. It is toll-free across Digicel, Vodafone, and Telikom PNG networks. Use it for any threat to life, property, or public safety — connecting directly to police, fire, and ambulance services.
The line is operated through a partnership between LCA and RPNGC, with technical delivery by Digicel, Vodafone, Telikom PNG and NICTA.
"112 is not just a number, it is a lifeline for emergency situations."
— ACP Peter Guinness, Northern Command
